Don Evans called as Macoupin DOM

CARLINVILLE, Ill. | The Macoupin Baptist Association called Don Evans, an Illinois native, to serve as its director of missions. His first day in the office will be Sept. 1.

Evans has nearly 40 years experience as a pastor having served at Sullivan Southern Baptist Church, Sullivan, Ill.; Erven Avenue Baptist Church, Streator, Ill.; and Zion Baptist Church, Joliet, Ill., as well as at churches in Ohio, Tennessee, Pennsylvania and Texas.

His experience also includes serving in various leadership roles in the Central and Three Rivers Baptist Associations and as a member of the Illinois Baptist State Association Board of Directors.  In addition, Evans is a trained Illinois Baptist Disaster Relief chaplain and chainsaw team volunteer.

“I’ve been involved in associational ministries nearly all my ministry career,” said Evans.  “I enjoy working with pastors and churches and am looking forward to working with the people in Macoupin Baptist Association.” 

The association is composed of 29 churches and missions with nearly 6,000 total members.  The association office is located in Carlinville.

Evans holds a Diploma of Theology from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Illinois Baptist College, and a Master in Theology and Doctor of Theology from Freedom Bible College.

He and his wife Sharon have four children and 10 grandchildren.
