From David

The following note is about a trip that David and others took to El Salvador in August.  They were part of an Agua Viva mission trip.

“I wanted to give you an update on our recent trip.  First, we all made it there and home with no injuries or illnesses so I'm still thanking God for that.  We had a very successful week.  We hit water the first day, praise God.  That allowed us enough time to do a pump repair at an elementary school.  Their well had been down for three weeks.  A hand dug well on the property was their back up but the water was black.  So, they sent the school kids out to collect water from puddles for three weeks until we came and fixed their well.  It was a very moving experience.  The community we completed the well in was also very happy to have clean water.  There were many sicknesses in the village due to parasites in their water.  We also taught health & hygiene classes while we were there.  The Jesus film was shown one evening and we were able to pass out Bibles at the well dedication.  We also had many opportunities to share the gospel both one on one and with groups.  In other words, lots of seeds were sown.

You don't always find out the impact you have on a community.  This year, however, we also had the opportunity to visit where we drilled last year.  When we were there last year it was a place of great conflict.  The well has brought the community together physically and spiritually.  The pastor asked for prayer because his church has grown so much they would like to add on or build a bigger facility!  We were treated like rock stars when we showed up.  They still had our pictures hanging on the wall of the church.  It was very humbling and meaningful. -

Peace

David Gillelad”
