Ride with a Purpose

Ride with a purpose was the theme that was shared at the Rally to Ridgecrest.  This motorcycle rally is sponsored by LifeWay and is held on Memorial Day weekend each year.  Friday and Saturday evenings included breakout sessions on various interests of motorcyclists and a speaker.  Dave Burton, Director of the Evangelism Division of the Florida Baptist Convention, was our highly energized speaker for Saturday night.  He closed the session with the challenge to "ride with a purpose."  Sunday morning the theme continued as Lt. Colonel Oliver North spoke to us about each soldier knowing what his/her purpose or mission was for the day.

The reason that this event is held on Memorial Day weekend is to honor our fallen who have served our country.  Sunday morning began with a parade to the military cemetery, in the rain, where a wreath was laid, the colors were presented, songs were sung, hearts were touched, families of the fallen prayed for, and Oliver North delivered a brief message.  Those freedoms that they fought to defend allowed us to worship freely, enjoy the ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the fellowship of other riders.  A small contingent of riders from Illinois were able to join with 600 plus in attendance at the Rally to Ridgecrest.
